A little background on how CERAMIC COATINGS are at the tip of your tongue, and top of your mind.
It is common for car enthusiasts and car owners who take pride in their ride, and really, all car owners alike, to end up hearing about these awesome coatings - ceramic coatings - that go on the paint to protect it. They'll stumble upon these coatings from other car guys who actually have a coating installed on their ride, or perusing instagram, facebook or youtube, etc. Ceramic coatings have been introduced to the United States market about 10 years ago, but why have ceramic coatings blown up in the last year or two? How has everyone who owns a car that they're proud of, all of a sudden, found interest in this hardened liquid form of car paint protection?
The answer: Hype.
Isn't that how everything comes to surface with the general population? It wan't an overnight success for the ceramic coating industry - it's been about 10 years since they've arrived here in the States. Now, that is not to say that ceramic coatings are NOT worth the hype, because they really have revolutionized car maintenance for the owners, and the auto detailing industry as a whole. Car owners get to enjoy the benefits of having an easier to wash, and slightly more difficult to damage and penetrate, car finish. Auto detailers who have been trained and have experience in installing these coatings can enjoy the benefits of bringing in a bit more revenue because of the more advanced skill set required to install them (thus making the detailers more valuable.)
But ultimately, why ceramic coatings have entered your thoughts, and why you're here even reading about them, is because of advertising, marketing and word of mouth. Are they really that good? Well, it depends on the perspective of the car owner.
The type of car owner that CERAMIC COATINGS attract
Is a ceramic coating for everybody? Well, of course not! Just like anything and everything else in life, ceramic coatings are attractive to a certain subset of the American and world's population. If you have a car, that would qualify you more than someone who doesn't. If you like your car, this is also a qualifier. If you are responsible with the maintenance on your car, this takes it even further. People who do not care about their car's mechanics - well, they probably are not the type of people who would be interested in a ceramic coating. Are
Is a CERAMIC COATING right for you?
Do you have to be a car guy to have interest in coatings? No, of course not! Just like somebody who is an avid basketball fan can find interest in the NFL playoffs, or somebody who really likes pizza and eats it regularly, but is interested in the health movement and the organic lifestyle/yoga/vegan, etc. Ceramic coatings can be for everybody.
If you have a car, and you at least care about it some, then yes, a coating can benefit you, should you find enough value in it. Of course, those of us that are car guys, that care about the mechanics, the performance, the aesthetics, etc., will care more about protecting the paint on our cars more than others.
Ceramic coatings are the real deal, more so to the people that can see past the hype and see the real benefit. Coatings will not wash your car for you (definitely not by hand), neither will they prevent bullets from piercing the metal, nor will they PREVENT scratches (they will help keep hand car wash micro-scratches from damaging your paint, however.)
